Launched in 2019, Mask Network (MASK) is a protocol that enables users to send encrypted messages, cryptocurrencies, and decentralised Apps (Defi, NFTs, DAO) on top of existing social networks.
Early versions of the platform enabled users to send and receive encrypted posts on Facebook and Twitter with access control. Now, Mask users can send encrypted information over the top of social networks without migrating and creating a decentralised Applet (DApplet) ecosystem.
Based in Shanghai, Mask Network first raised $2 million in funding in November 2020, before securing another $3 million in February 2021. With plans to offer peer-to-peer payments and decentralised storage functionality, Mask hopes to bridge Web 2 and Web 3 to empower the general public to use the “better web” within current mainstream platforms.
